Dell UK has released the 11.6-inch Inspiron M101z ultraportable laptop, based on AMD’s technology.
The 3.44-pound Dell Inspiron M101z features the AMD Athlon Neo K125 single core or K325 dual core processor, ATI Radeon RS880M integrated graphics, up to 4GB of DDR3 memory, up to 320GB hard disk capacity, and a 6-cell battery which provides up to 6 hours and 36 minutes of work time. There is no optical drive.
Its 11.6″ LED-backlit display has a resolution of 1366×768 pixels.
Dell’s M101z also includes a full-width keyboard, 1.3M web camera, stereo speakers, microphone, 802.11n wireless, Ethernet LAN, Bluetooth 3.0, a SIM card slot, three USB ports, a 3-in-1 media card reader, and VGA and HDMI outputs.
The laptop comes in four colors: pink, blue, red, and black.
The Dell Inspiron M101z runs Windows 7 Home Premium OS and is available via Dell UK site for the starting price of £379 ($586). We have no info on its availability in the US.
UPDATE: The laptop is available now in the US for $449.99 at Dell.com.
Consumer electronics company Augen has relased the Gentouch78, an affordable 7-inch Android OS-based tablet computer priced at only $150.
Besides the Android 2.1, access to Android Market, and a 800×480 touch display, the Gentouch78 includes an 800MHz processor, 256MB DDR2 RAM, 2GB of internal storage expandable via an SD/MMC card slot, and Wi-Fi connectivity.
The Augen Gentouch78 will be available through Kmart stores.
Nvidia has released the Quadro 5000M, a new video card for mobile workstations.
Based on “Fermi” architecture, the Quadro 5000M has 2GB of GDDR5 memory, a 256-bit memory interface, and 320 CUDA cores. It’s “the world’s first professional graphics solution with Error Correction Codes (ECC) memory” for the highest computing accuracy.
The GPU uses CUDA, OpenGL 4.1, DirectX 11, DirectCompute and OpenCL technologies and supports the new Nvidia 3D Vision Pro active shutter-glasses solution.
Mobile workstation laptops with the Nvidia Quadro 5000M are expected to be available in the third quarter of 2010 from HP and Dell.
Plextor has released the PX-B120U external USB Blu-ray drive, which plays BD discs at speeds up to 4x.
The travel-friendly PX-B120U is powered via the USB cable so it doesn’t require a separate power source.
Plextor’s drive also supports “multiple media formats including DVD+ /- R, DVD +/-RW, DVD +/- R DL, DVD-RAM and CD-R”.
The BD reader is priced at $99.99.
Transcend has launched the PNU3, a two-port USB 3.0 ExpressCard adapter.
The ports on the ExpressCard fully support SuperSpeed USB 3.0 standard with connection bandwidth of up to 5Gb/s and are backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 1.1.
Transcend’s PNU3 USB 3.0 ExpressCard Adapter is compatible with Windows 7 and is backed by a 2-year warranty.

Jolicloud 1.0, a free cloud computing-based operating system for netbooks is now available for download.
Jolicloud is Internet and social networking-centric and is based on Linux OS, combined with an HTML user interface. It comes with pre-installed applications, such as Gmail, Skype, Twitter, Firefox, and more. The OS has access to App Center with more than 700 free apps.
It can be installed on a computer alongside Windows in a dual-boot configuration, or as a standalone OS.

Eurocom has released two new gaming laptops – the 15.6-inch B5100M FOX and 17.3-inch B7110 FOX, both with Nvidia Optimus switchable graphics technology.
The B5100M FOX and B7110 feature the Intel core i3, i5, or i7 processors, Optimus that combines the Nvidia GeForce GT330M dedicated and Intel GMA HD integrated graphics, up to 16GB of DDR3 RAM, and up to 1.6TB of storage space using two hard disks.
The base prices are $999 for the B5100M FOX, and $1,199 for B7110 FOX.
Hewlett-Packard has released the HP Mini 5103 business netbook with optional touchscreen and the latest Intel Atom processors.
The HP Mini 5103 features a 10.1-inch 1024×600 or 1366×768 LED-backlit display with optional capacitive multitouch tehnology, the Atom N475 1.83GHz or N455 1.66GHz processor with the GMA 3150 integrated graphics, 2GB of DDR3 memory, up to 320GB of hard disk space or up to 128GB solid state drive storage, a 4- or 6-cell battery, optional Broadcom Crystal HD Enhanced Video Accelerator for 720p and 1080p HD video playback, and Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Starter or SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 OS.
HP’s new mini-laptop also includes a 2MP web camera, stereo speakers, stereo microphones, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Gigabit Ethernet LAN, Bluetooth, HP Mobile Broadband powered by Gobi with GPS, three USB ports, a Secure Digital slot, VGA output, a spill-resistant keyboard, and an optional detachable handle.
The 2.64-pound non-touchscreen and the 2.86-pound touchscreen 5103 netbooks have metal cases with magnesium alloy support structure and metal alloy hinges and are available in three colors: espresso, red, and blue.
In the US, the HP Mini 5103 can be purchased via HP’s online store for a base price of $399.
Besides the 11.6″ LT32, Gateway has released the LT22 10.1″ mini-laptop featuring AMD’s 2010 Ultrathin Platform.
Unlike the Intel Atom-based LT21, the Gateway LT22 includes the Athlon II Neo K125 1.7GHz single core processor, ATI Radeon HD 4225 graphics, DDR3 memory, a 250GB hard disk drive, a 6-cell battery providing up to 6.5 hours of run time, a 1024 x 600 LED-backlight screen, and Windows 7 Starter OS.
The ultraportable also sports a webcam with microphone, HDMI port, two USB 2.0 connectors, 802.11n wireless, Gigabit LAN, a multi-in-1 media card reader, and a multi-gesture touchpad.
The Gateway LT22 has a honeycomb chassis design and comes in either matte silver or brown.
The laptop is available in Canada with a base price of CAD $349.99 ($339 U.S. dollars). We have no info on pricing and availability in the U.S.
DRS Technologies has announced the new 10.4-inch ARMOR X10gx fully-rugged tablet.
The X10gx has a magnesium alloy chassis and is fully compliant with MIL-STD-810G standards for shock, vibration, and temperature extremes. In addition, it’s rated IP67 for ingress protection, making it impervious to moisture, dust, sand, pollen, mold and more.
The ARMOR x10gx features the Intel Core 2 Duo SU9300 1.2GHz ultra-low voltage processor, 2GB of DDR3 memory expandable to 4GB, up to 160GB solid state drive, twin hot-swappable lithium ion battery pack, and Windows 7 Ultimate OS.
Its anti-glare LED-backlit display has a resolution of 1024×768-pixels and supports digitizer pen and resistive touch input. Also, there is a pen-only model available.

The 4.7-pound (including handle and one battery) ARMOR X10gx will be available from September 15th with a three year limited warranty. There is no info on pricing yet.
The Dell Streak 5-inch Android tablet with 3G cell phone functionality is now available for purchase in the US.
The Streak is sold for use on AT&T network only. It starts at $299.99 with 2-year AT&T contract activation or $549 without the contract.
Amazon has started selling the eMachines eME527-2537 15.6-inch laptop for only $279 after instant savings.
The ultra-affordable notebook features the Intel Celeron 900 2.2GHz single-core processor, GMA 4500M integrated graphics, 2GB of DDR3 RAM, a 160GB hard drive, DVD burner, 6-cell battery, display resolution of 1366 × 768 pixels, and Windows 7 Home Premium OS.
Regarding other specifications, the 6-pound eMachines eME527-2537 has 802.11n Wi-Fi, Ethernet LAN, a single speaker, two USB ports, a 5-in-1 media card raeder, and a VGA connector.
