ThinkPad X100e

Lenovo is going to release the ThinkPad X100e, a 11.6-inch AMD-based ultraportable business laptop, according to leaked specifications.

Along with the AMD Athlon Neo MV40 1.6GHz single-core processor, RS780 chipset, and the 1366×768 display, the ThinkPad X100e includes up to 4GB of RAM, up to 320GB of hard drive space, a 3- or 6-cell battery for up to 5.1 hours of run time, optional 3G and GPS receivers, a full-size keyboard with trackpoint, a multi-touch trackpad, and Windows 7 or XP operating system

The 3-pound mini-notebook also sports a 0.3MP web camera and microphone, stereo speakers, 802.11 WiFi, Gigabit LAN port, optional Bluetooth, three USB ports, a 4-in 1 media card reader, and a VGA port.

The laptop will will be available in black, white, or red, and will start at $449 reportedly. There’s no info on availability date.

Averatec N3400

Averatec has announced the N3400, a sleek, aluminum-clad 13.3-inch laptop.

Weighing 3.8 pounds, the Averatec N3400 features the Intel Pentium Dual Core T3400 2.16GHz processor, 3GB of DDR2 memory, a 250GB hard drive, an external USB DVD burner, and the Intel GMA 4500HD integrated graphics.

The laptop also includes a 1.3MP web camera and a microphone, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth, a Gigabit LAN port, three USB ports, a 4-in-1 media card reader, and a VGA output.

The Averatec N3400 runs Windows Vista Home Premium OS and has a $799 price tag.

Lenovo’s recently announced IdeaPad U350 thin-and-light 13.3-inch notebook, based on the Intel CULV platform, can be purchased now.

Starting at 3.52 pounds, the Lenovo IdeaPad U350 features the Intel Pentium SU2700 ultra-low voltage processor at 1.3GHz, the GMA 4500M integrated graphics, up to 4GB of DDR3 memory, and up to 320GB of hard drive space. The notebook doesn’t include a built-in optical drive.

Its glossy display uses LED backlight and has a resolution of 1366×768 pixels.

The U350 also sports a full size laptop keyboard, a multi-touch trackpad, a 1.3MP web camera and a microphone, stereo speakers, Dolby Home Sound Room technology, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth, a Gigabit LAN port, three USB ports, a 4-in-1 media card reader, and HDMi and VGA outputs.

It comes with a 4 cell battery that provides “up to 5 hours” of run time, according to the product specifications.

Lenovo’s super-slim notebook, that measures 0.7 inches at its thinnest point, has a black top surface with square weave texture.

The IdeaPad U350 runs Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit OS.

Customers can order it at Lenovo.com for a base price of $679.

Intel Laptop Processors

Intel Core 2

Intel has announced four new laptop processors – the high-performance Intel Core 2 Duo T9900, P9700, and P8800, and the ultra-low voltage Pentium SU2700.

The Core 2 Duo T9900, with a TDP of 35 Watts, runs at 3.06GHz and has 6MB of L2 cache, whereas the 25W P9700 and P8800 are clocked at 2.83GHz and 2.66GHz respectively. The P9700 has 6MB of L2 cache, while the P8800 has 3MB. All three CPUs have 1066MHz front side bus and are designed for use in standard-sized Centrino 2 notebooks.

On the other side, the new ULV Intel Pentium SU2700 single-core processor, with a 10W TDP, will be used in affordable ultra-thin laptops. The SU2700 features a core clock speed of 1.3GHz, 2MB of L2 cache, and a 800MHz FSB.

In addition, Intel announced the Mobile Intel GS40 Express Chipset for the new ULV-based notebooks. The new chipset features a hardware-based decoder of HD video, Windows Vista Premium support and native support for integrated HDMI.

Acer Aspire AS5810

The Acer Aspire AS5810 “Timeline“, a newly designed and affordable 15.6-inch notebook, is now available for purchase in the United States.

Wal-Mart offers the AS5810-4657 with the new Intel Pentium SU2700 ultra low voltage CPU at 1.3GHz and the Intel GS45 chipset with the GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics. The laptop includes 3GB of DDR3 memory, a 320GB hard drive, and a DVD burner. Its LED-backlight display has a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels.

Acer’s Timeline 15.6-incher sports a built-in web camera, Dolby Sound Room technology, a multi-gesture touchpad, 802.11b/g/Draft-N Wi-Fi, a Gigabit LAN port, HDMI output, four USB ports, and a 5-in-1 media card reader,

The product description says the 5.3-pound notebook can provide more than 8 hours of run time with its 6-cell battery.

The Acer Aspire AS5810-4657, also known as AS5810T-4657, runs Windows Vista Home Premium OS and has a $598 price tag.

The PC maker announced that the 13.3″ and 14″ versions – the AS3810T and AS4810T – are also available in the US, but we were not able to find these laptops at any online retailer at the time of this writing.

Dell Alienware M17X

Dell launched today the Alienware M17X “All Powerful”, a 17-inch gaming laptop PC with Nvidia’s graphics, Intel CPU technology, and a new design.

The M17X features up to dual Nvidia GeForce GTX 280M 1GB video cards in SLI mode and the Intel Core 2 Duo processor, upgradeable to quad-core Core 2 Quad / Extreme. Other components include up to 8GB of DDR3 memory, up to 1TB of hard drive space or up to 512GB of solid state drive storage, a slot-load DVD burner or Blu-ray optical disc, and an additional integrated GPU that can be used to save battery when dedicated graphics is not needed.

Display resolution options include 1440-by-900 or 1920-by-1200.

The M17X also sports stereo speakers, 5.1 surround sound audio support, DisplayPort, HDMI, and VGA video outputs, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Gigabit LAN, Bluetooth, four USB connectors, an eSATA/USB combo port, an ExpressCard slot, an 8-in-1 media card reader, and a FireWire port.

Design features include an anodized aluminum chassis with black and silver color options, a personalized laser engraved nameplate, backlighting for the keyboard, number pad, and touchpad, and trim lights.

Alienware’s M17X starts at 11.7 pounds with its 9-cell battery.

The basic configuration, which includes a Core 2 Duo at 2.4GHz, a GeForce GTX 260 GPU, 4GB of RAM and a 250GB HDD, is priced at $1,799. The laptop can be purchased at Dell.com.
