HP Mini 210 Now with Dual-Core Atom

Hewlett-Packard has released the refreshed HP Mini 210 netbook, which now offers a dual-core Intel Atom option, DDR3 memory instead of DDR2, a redesigned chassis to accommodate a higher-capacity battery, and new color options.

Default battery in the updated Mini 210 is an “inline” 6-cell unit now, replacing the standard 3-cell pack.

HP has also announced availability of the dual-core Atom-powered HP 5103 business netbook.

When configured with the dual-core CPU, the Mini 210 starts at $394.99. The single-core 5103 starts at $399, while the price for the dual-core version is currently unknown.

ViewSonic is showcasing their Viewpad 100 tablet device with a 10.1-inch display, dual-boot Windows 7 Home Premium and Android 1.6 operating systems, and Intel’s Atom processor.

Besides the multi-touch 1024×600 LED-backlight screen and Atom N455 at 1.66GHz, the “world’s first dual boot tablet” comes with 16GB of internal storage, which is expandable via a Micro SD slot, 1GB DDR3 RAM, a 1.3MP web camera on the front, Wi-Fi, a SIM card slot, Bluetooth, assisted GPS, two USB 2.0 ports, a mini VGA video output connector, and a built-in accelerometer.

The pre-production unit at ViewSonic’s IFA booth has a battery life of about 4 hours in Windows and from 6 to 8 hours in Android.

The ViewPad 100 is expected to hit the market in October for about $650 Euros ($845 US dollars).

ViewSonic has also released the 7-inch ViewPad 7 that runs Android 2.2.

ViewSonic has unveiled the Android OS-based ViewPad 7 multitouch tablet at the 2010 IFA Show in Berlin.

The 7-inch ViewPad 7 runs Androdid 2.2 with access to the Google Android app marketplace and provides 3G phone, augmented reality, navigation, and ebook reading functionality, besides Internet and multimedia capabilities.

It uses a 600MHz Qualcomm “Snapdragon” processor and has a Micro SD slot for up to 32GB of storage capacity, a front VGA and back-facing 3.2MP camera, stereo speakers, a full-size SIM card slot, Wi-Fi, integrated Bluetooth, Assisted GPS, built-in accelerometer, a mini-USB port, and an audio connector.

The LED-backlight display has a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels.

ViewSonic’s Viewpad 7 will be available starting in October for about $399 Euros ($514 US dollars).

The company is also going to release the 10-inch ViewPad 100.

Nvidia has officially released the GeForce 400M Series dedicated video cards for laptops.

Besides the recently launched GeForce GTX 480M, which is the top of the line model, the 40nm “Fermi” architecture-based 400M series now includes the hgih-performance GTX 470M and GTX 460M, as well as mid-range GT 445M, GT 435M, GT 425M, GT 420M and GT 415M.

The new GPUs support DirectX 11, Nvidia Optimus, CUDA, 3D Vision, and PhysX technologies, and performance-boosting Verde notebook drivers.

According to Nvidia, the GeForce 4xxM series GPUs are up to 40% faster on average than their 3xxM counterparts.

The 400 Series chips will be initially incorporated into laptops by Acer, Asus, Dell, Lenovo, Samsung, and Toshiba.

Samsung’s 15.6-inch R590 multimedia notebook is now available in the UK and Australia.

The Samsung R590 is a more powerful version of the R580 and features the Intel Core i5-450M 2.4GHz processor, Nvidia GeForce GT330M 1GB dedicated graphics, 4GB of DDR3 memory, 500GB of hard disk space, a DVD burner, and a 6-cell battery.

Its LED-backlit glossy display has a resolution of 1366×768 pixels.

Samsung’s new laptop also includes an integrated 1.3MP web camera, stereo speakers, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Gigabit Ethernet LAN, Bluetooth 3.0, four USB ports (including an eSATA/USB combo), an ExpressCard slot, 3-in-1 card reader, and HDMI and VGA outputs.

The 4.8-pound R590-JS02 has a blue gradation finish and runs Windows 7 Home Premium OS.

It is available via Amazon UK (R590-JS02UK) for £809, which is around 1,247 USD, and JB HI-Fi (R590-JS02AU) for 1,298 AUD or about 1,152 USD. We have no info on pricing and availability in other countries.

Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 Overview

Samsung is expected to release the Galaxy Tab GT-P1000, the company’s first tablet device, at the 2010 IFA Show in Berlin, Germany.

According to leaked specifications, besides a 7-inch 16:10 1024X600 capacitive multi-touch display and Android 2.2 “Froyo” OS, the Galaxy Tab features a 1.2GHz ARM Cortex A8-based Samsung S5PC110 processor, 16GB of Flash memory, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1, 3G connectivity, a 3.2MP web camera, an SDHC memory card reader, and a built-in accelerometer.

The tablet weighs 370 grams (around 0.8 pounds).

It has been previewed in a video by a Korean website Digital Times. On the other side, Samsung has officially released Galaxy Tab teaser.

HSN has started offering the Acer Aspire One AOD255 netbook, which includes the latest Intel Atom N550 dual-core processor.

Besides the 1.5GHz Atom N550 with GMA 3150 graphics, the 10.1-inch AOD255 has 1GB DDR3 RAM, a 250GB hard drive, a 6-cell battery that lasts “up to 8 hours”, and Windows 7 Starter OS.

The 2.8-pound netbook has a LED-backlight display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels and also features a webcam with microphone, stereo speakers, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Ethernet LAN, three USB ports, an SD/MMC card reader, and a VGA connector.

It’s available in four colors: Diamond Black (AOD255-1549), Aquamarine (AOD255-1203), Sandstone Brown (AOD255-1625), and Ruby Red (AOD255-1134).

The AOD255 is priced at $399.99.

German e-tailer PC IT Shop has started offering the new ASUS Eee PC 1215P 12.1-inch ultraportable/netbook, featuring the latest Intel Atom N550 dual-core processor.

The Eee PC 1215P runs Windows 7 Home Premium OS and includes 2GB DDR3 RAM, a 250GB hard drive, Wi-Fi, a web camera, and a VGA port.

It’s offered in black and silver color and has a price tag of 446,90 Euros (566 USD).

Hannspree has announced a tablet device featuring a 10.1-inch 1,024×600 multitouch display and Android 2.2 operating system.

The tablet is based on Nvidia’s Tegra 2 platform with an ARM A9 dual core processor at 1GHz. It has 16GB of storage space and supports 1080p HD video, as well as Flash 10.1. The battery provides 8 hours of full HD playback.

Hannspree’s device includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a mini HDMI port, mini USB connector, Micro SD card slot, and accelerometer.

The tablet is priced at 399 Euros (507 USD).

We have no info on the availability date.
