The HP Pavilion dv8, Hewlett-Packard’s upcoming 18.4-inch etnertainment notebook, features the Core i7 mobile processor and the NVIDIA GeForce dedicated graphics, according to a leaked product page at hp.com.

The specifications of the dv8-1080 model include the Intel Core i7-720QM 1.6GHz CPU, the GeForce GT 230 video card with 1GB of video memory, up to 8GB of RAM, up to 640GB of storage using two hard drives, a Blu-ray combo drive, and a full HD display resolution of 1920×1080 pixels.

HP’s desktop replacement laptop sports Altec Lansing speakers with integrated subwoofer, Dolby Home Theater sound technology, a web camera with microphone, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth, Gigabit LAN, HDMI and VGA outputs, four USB ports, an eSATA/USB connector, an ExpressCard slot, Firewire, a 5-in-1 media card reader, and a fingerprint reader.

The dv8 weighs 8.95 pounds and runs Windows 7 OS, according to the specs sheet.

We have no info on release date and pricing.

HP is also expected to release the Core i7-powered Envy 15.

Dell Latitude Z600

Dell Latitude Z60

The Dell Latitude Z Series 16-inch ultra-thin business laptop, also known as the Latitude Z600, is now available for purchase in the US.

Starting at 4.5 pounds and measuring at “just over a half an inch thin”, the Latitude Z features the Intel Core 2 Duo SU9600 or SU9400 ultra-low voltage processor, the GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics, 2GB or 4GB of DDR3 memory, one or two solid state drives with up to 256GB of storage per SSD, a 1600×900 LED backlight display, and a 4-cell or 8-cell battery. The notebook does not include a built-in optical drive.

Dell’s Latitude Z (Z600), advertised as “the world’s thinnest and lightest 16-inch laptop”, also sports a 2MP web camera with face recognition and business card reading functionality, 802.11n WiFi, optional WiMAX, optional mobile broadband connectivity, Bluetooth, an Ethernet LAN port, a Display Port, two USB ports (one is shared with eSATA port), optional wireless USB for a clutter-free connection to peripherals, a fingerprint reader, the TPM 1.2, and a contactless Smart Card reader.

Along with a backlit keyboard and a gesture-enabled touchpad, the notebook includes the Dell EdgeTouch LCD Sensor, enabling innovative controls at lower right corner of LCD for “quick, easy and customizable” laptop interaction.

Optionally, customers can purchase the Latitude Z with a wireless inductive charging stand. An internal charging module must be installed in the laptop in order to use inductive charging.

MSI GT640 Gaming Laptop

Micro-Star Int’l announced today the Core i7-based MSI GT640 15.4-inch laptop for gamers.

Along with a quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, the GT640 features the NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250M 1GB dedicated video card, up to 4GB of DDR3 memory, up to 500GB of hard drive storage, and a built-in DVD burner or Blu-ray drive. There’s no info on display resolution.

MSI’s new gaming notebook also includes stereo speakers, a 2MP web camera, HDMI and VGA outputs, 7.1-channel audio output, 802.11n WiFi, optional Bluetooth, a Gigabit LAN port, a modem, two standard USB ports and an eSATA/USB combo port, an ExpressCard slot, and a 4-in-1 media card reader.

The GT640 starts at 5.95 pounds and comes with a 6-cell or 9-cell battery.

The laptop runs Windows 7 operating system.

Pricing and availability date are currently unknown.

Asustek’s new multimedia laptop – the 15.6-inch Asus UL50 – is now available in the US.

Amazon offers the black UL50Ag-A1 model, featuring the Intel SU7300 ultra-low voltage processor at 1.3GHz, the GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics, 4GB of DDR2 memory, a 320GB hard drive with Windows Vista Home Premium pre-installed, a DVD burner, and a claimed battery life of 11 hours. Its 15.6″ glare-type LED backlight display has a resolution of 1366×768 pixels.

The Asus UL50Ag includes Altec Lansing stereo speakers with SRS Premium Sound technology, a 0.3MP web camera, HDMI and VGA outputs, 802.11b/g/n wireless, a Gigabit LAN port, three USB ports, and a 5-in-1 media card reader.

The laptop weighs around 5 pounds and has a brushed aluminum lid.

The UL50Ag-A1 is priced at $799.99.

Asustek has also unveiled details of the Asus UL50Vg that includes switchable integrated/dedicated graphics.

Gateway EC18T Tablet PC

Gateway is going to release the EC18T Tablet PC with an 11.6-inch touch-screen display, according to leaked images and specifications.

The EC18T convertible laptop features an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, up to 4GB of DDR3 memory, Intel’s GS45 chipset with integrated GMA 4500 series graphics, and Windows 7 OS.

There’s no info on pricing and availability.

MSI CULV-based Ultra-slim Laptop

MSI’s new Intel CULV-based ultra-slim laptop – the 14-inch X-Slim X400 – is now available for purchase in the United States.

Mwave sells the black/gold MSI X400-060US and black/silver X400-061US, while Excaliber PC additionally offers the white/blue X400-029US model. Weighing at 3.3 pounds, the 1-inch thin notebooks come with the Intel Core 2 Solo SU2700 1.3GHz processor, the GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics, 2GB of DDR2 memory, a 320GB hard drive with Windows Vista Home Premium pre-installed, and a 4-cell battery. The X400 doesn’t include a built-in optical drive.

Its 14-inch glossy display has a resolution of 1366×768 pixels and uses LED backlight.

The MSI X-Slim X400 sports a built-in 1.3MP web camera, stereo speakers, HDMI and VGA ports, support for dual headphone output, two USB connectors, an SD/SDHC/MMC media card reader, 802.11a/g/n wireless, Bluetooth, and a Gigabit LAN port.

The X400-060US, X400-061US, and X400-029US are priced at $800.

Acer Aspire One AOD250 Netbook

Aspire One AOD250 slim

Acer has announced a dual-boot version of the Aspire One AOD250 netbook, which includes Adroid and Windows XP operating systems.

Android is a lightweight Linux-based open source OS designed specifically for mobile devices. Acer says that Android allows the Aspire One netbook to boot up and shut down quickly with “instant on” Internet connectivity.

The Aspire One AOD250 features a 10.1-inch display, the Intel Atom N280 processor, 1GB of RAM, and a 160GB hard drive.

The first netbook with Android in the US market starts at $349.99.

Acer Touch-screen Notebook

Acer has announced the Aspire AS5738PG notebook with a multi-touch 15.6-inch display, Intel’s CPU, and Windows 7 OS.

According to Acer, customers can touch anywhere on the AS5738PG’s screen using one or two fingertips to play movies, zoom in and out on websites, edit photos and video, handwrite notes, resize windows, launch entertainment applications and more.

The first touch-screen Aspire model available will be the AS5738PG-6306, featuring the Core 2 Duo T6600 2.2GHz processor, the ATI Radeon HD 4570 512MB dedicated graphics, 4GB of DDR2 memory, a 320GB SATA hard drive, and a DVD burner. The display has a resoltion of 1366×768 pixels and uses LED backlight.

The laptop also sports stereo speakers, a built-in web camera, 802.11n WiFi, an HDMI output, and four USB ports.

Acer’s notebook weighs 6.16 pounds with its 6-cell battery.

The AS5738PG-6306 was available starting October 22. It was priced at around $800.
